What is Velocity?
Velocity is a movement to get active, fundraise and come together to help bring hope and support to cancer patients and their families across the world.
Velocity is a community of passionate individuals—friends, family, survivors, patients, doctors, nurses, and researchers— who believe that when we work together, we can and will solve cancer.
This is Velocity: Columbia’s Ride to End Cancer.
Velocity began in 2017 as a cycling event with a simple mission: help Columbia solve cancer by supporting research and patient care at Columbia’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC). Today, Velocity’s mission has remained the same while its community—and its impact–has grown bigger. Over three thousand people have joined the Velocity community so far, raising over $6 million to bring us closer to the end of cancer.
100% of funds raised by Velocity support expert patient care and cutting-edge research at Columbia’s Cancer Center. Learn More About Velocity’s Impact.
Our mission and our legacy continue this year with the 6th annual Velocity. Join us for Velocity 2022. The Further You Go, The Closer We Get.

Sunday, October 2 is Velocity Day
Velocity Day is a chance to celebrate this community and the commitment we all share to solving cancer. Whether you’re participating in person or virtually, on Velocity Day, we come together as one unstoppable force.
Velocity Riders will kick off the day at their designated start location with a moving opening ceremony, honoring members of our community. Then they’ll set off on their ride through the Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, across the George Washington Bridge, and straight to the finish line at Columbia!
Your Way Participants are invited to come cheer on riders and celebrate with us at the Finish Line at Columbia University’s Herbert Irving Medical Center on October 2! Be sure to complete your chosen activity by Velocity Day and stay connected with the entire Velocity Community over social media.
Additional details for Velocity Day will be announced soon. Stay tuned! Have questions? Contact us at [email protected] or 973-681-RIDE (7433).
