Choose from one of the following volunteer positions: Start/Finish, Rest Stop, and Road Crew.
Below are job descriptions. You must be 16 years or older to volunteer.  If you have further questions, contact us at ride@velocityride.org.

Start/Finish and Rest Stop Volunteers: 

• Must be 16 or older 
• Will assist with set up, distribution of food and beverage, traffic and safety, gear check, and cheering on our riders.

Road Crew:

Route Closure Assistant

• Drive route closure staff monitoring route
• Work with rest stop teams to close rest stops according to schedule
• Drive official event vehicle; no personal vehicles allowed
• Must have valid drivers license
• Must be able to lift up to 20lbs

Caboose Assistant

• Drive staff member and follow last rider on course and offer assistance where needed
• Always remain behind the last rider
• Drive official event vehicle, no personal vehicles allowed
• Must have valid drivers license
• Must be able to lift up to 20lbs

Motorcycle Safety

• Work with staff and local law enforcement to guarantee safe passage for riders during the event
• Assist at difficult intersections and other locations as requested
• Motosafety serves as a second set of eyes for riders, directs riders only and in no way directs vehicle traffic
• Must hold a valid motorcycle license and provide their own motorcycle and helmet

Bike Marshal

• Ride the route ensuring rider safety
• Provide cautionary information and general inspiration
• Must be an avid cyclist, experienced in leading groups, and have a basic knowledge of bike fixes
• Must provide their own bike and wear an ANSI certified helmet at all times

As a token of our appreciation, you’ll receive a Velocity Volunteer Shirt on Ride Day and enjoy food and beverages. 

While Volunteers do not have fundraising commitments, we always welcome and encourage fundraising! Upon registration you will receive a personalized fundraising page and participant dashboard with access to sample communications and fundraising resources. Our Volunteers have gone above and beyond to support our mission to end cancer.
