Calling all Riders: Velocity is back! Choose from two fully-supported distances: 25 miles or 62.5 miles and ride with us in person on Velocity Day—Sunday, October 2!

On Velocity Day, Riders will witness a moving tribute, honoring members of our community at our opening ceremony. Then embark on a scenic ride through the Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, across the iconic George Washington Bridge, and straight towards the finish line at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Celebrate the end of your ride at the Finish Line—enjoy food and beverages and receive your official 2022 Velocity Finisher T-Shirt!

Whether an experienced cyclist or a novice on a bike, we’re here to support you every step of the way. Your participation—and fundraising efforts—get us one step closer to a world without cancer.

The Further You Go, The Closer We Get.

Our 62.5-mile (100K) Start Area is located in Pomona, NY. With the mountains at your back, wind your way through the lower Hudson Valley and Rockland County’s quaint villages and towns like Montebello and Pearl River.

The 25-mile Start Area is in Orangeburg, NY and serves as a rest area for all Riders. As the route progresses towards NYC, Riders enter Bergen County, NJ. No matter where you ride, our fleet of support vehicles will be there to give you a lift if you need it.

All cycling events have hills and ours is no different. All Velocity riders will encounter hills along various portions of our route, including a short, but steep hill towards the end of the route—affectionately named ‘The Palisades Push’. Don't worry, we offer training rides and a guide with routes and tips from our bike experts to get you ready for Ride Day.

No matter the distance you choose, all Riders will have a $75 registration fee and $500 fundraising minimum. Columbia Student Riders receive waived registration and a discounted fundraising minimum of $250. Riders have until October 17 to reach their fundraising minimums.

100% of the funds raised for Velocity go directly toward expert patient care and cancer research at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.

After registering, you’ll receive a personalized fundraising page and participant dashboard with access to sample communications and fundraising resources. Included in your registration is:

  • Official 2022 Velocity Cycling Jersey
  • Finisher T-Shirt (and an opportunity for more Velocity swag!)
  • Transportation to and from Start Areas for you and your bike
  • Fully supported route (including rest stops, bike tech and medical)
  • A grab-and-go lunch and two beer tickets (21+) at our Finish Line Festival
